Casual Traffic Information Broadcaster

Leicester City Council’s Area Traffic Control is looking to recruit Casual Traffic Information Broadcaster.


BBC Radio Leicester is Britain’s first local radio station – with programmes that reflect life in a vibrant city and two rural counties, Leicestershire and Rutland, that are firmly part of middle England.  It’s a station full of ambition with talented presenters and great output. Radio Leicester listeners expect the latest, most accurate travel news – and you could be part of the team that provides it as we enter the station’s 50th year.


We are looking for a talented person with ambition who has a least two years relevant experience in broadcasting. You will be highly organised and have the ability to work calmly under pressure to meet deadlines both alone and as part of a team, and be able to handle several equally important tasks at the same time. We are looking to increase our pool of casual staff to specifically work in our Area Traffic Control Centre where you will be responsible for providing professional live Traffic Information Broadcasts, in conjunction with Radio Leicester.


Requirements of the post:

– Relevant experience in broadcasting.

– Experience of PC based computer systems

– Knowledge of the road network of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

– Experience of dealing with members of the public

– Experience using social media

– Ability to work with minimum supervision

– Ability to work under pressure

– Able to work unsociable hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays with minimal notice.
