Duty Officer (Sports Services)

Salary: £26,822 – £29,323 per annum

Post 1 – Aylestone Leisure Centre, 2 Knighton Lane East, Leicester  LE2 6LU – Full Time, Fixed Term for 12 months

Post 2 – St Margaret’s Pastures Sports Centre, St Margaret’s Way, Leicester  LE1 3EA – Full Time, Fixed Term until 30 April 2019 due to lease transfer

Required to work as part of the established management team to cover the efficient day to day operation of the leisure centres. You will also play a role in enabling the Sports Service to deliver excellent customer service to the people of Leicester and Leicestershire.

Aylestone Leisure Centre offers activities in our sports halls, together with our swimming pools, fitness suite, full size 3G pitch and club house. There is a fully licensed bar and café area offering a range of food and beverage during our opening times.

St Margaret’s Pastures Sports Centre offers floodlit pitches to cater for football and hockey matches.

You will be responsible for the opening and closing of the respective leisure/sports centre and for the Health and Safety of the building, including our members, visitors and staff. You will be responsible for the cash handling from reception, the bar and café, daily banking forms being a significant part of the roles. The post also includes maintenance of the existing staffing structure to ensure we operate efficiently, therefore an understanding of human resources will enable you to make informed and sound decisions as required.

You will be required to deliver a short presentation at interview as part of the selection process, details of which will be given on the day.

Requirements of the post include:

-Significant experience of working within a leisure environment;

-Previous supervisory experience with the ability to motivate and lead staff;

-Able to demonstrate a good standard of customer service;

-Good oral and written communication skills and administrative skills;

-Able to act as an advocate/champion for sport and the benefits it offers to communities;

-A sound knowledge of risk assessments and COSSH;

-First Aid at Work Certificate;

-Current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, 8th edition;

-Able to work shifts which will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays;

-Subject to a Basic Disclosure Police check.
