Post 2 – Full-time, Fixed Term for 12 months due to workload
8:00am – 4:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am – 3:30pm on Friday – working pattern can be discussed at interview.
City Highways is the contracting and highways maintenance unit of Leicester City Council’s Highways and Transport Service. The unit is structured to provide an integrated design and construction service. It carries out some £8million of highway and civil engineering works annually and plays a major role in the delivery of the Council’s Local Transport Plan.
Working in the Highways Maintenance Group, you will be required to contribute to the delivery of the highways and civil engineering works programme. Required to primarily act as a Site Agent/Site Engineer on Connecting Leicester and other large schemes. The successful applicant will also provide setting out and survey assistance to the delivery teams.
Highways experience, particularly in the highway design and maintenance field would be an advantage.
Requirements of the post include:
-Significant experience in the management and implementation of highways and/or civil engineering construction works;
-Significant experience of carrying out site surveys, using survey equipment/instruments, and set out construction works on site;
-Experience of preparing works cost estimates, specifications, bills of quantities and contract documents for highway and civil engineering works;
-Experience of working with contractors – monitoring and assisting/supervising works on site, agreeing payment valuations and keeping site and other administrative records;
-Experience of using computer aided design technology.
