Salary: £16,781 – £17,772 per annum

Full Time (37 hrs/wk), Fixed Term for 12 months – Graduate Opportunity

As part of the City Council’s drive to provide graduates with more opportunities to experience work and develop career paths we are pleased to offer an exciting and challenging Graduate Project Officer role within our Passenger & Transport Service.

The Fleet Services Team within the Passenger & Transport Service is responsible for managing and maintaining the Authority’s wide variety of over 750 vehicles and plant items. The team deal with all aspects of asset management including acquisition, preventative maintenance planning, disposal and legal/safety compliance.

We are currently undergoing 2 major projects (under phase 3 of the Housing Transformation Project) namely Fleet Management System and Vehicle Procurement Programme. You will assist with the specification and procurement of vehicles and plant items, in accordance with the Council’s fleet replacement programme, and have a key role in the implementation of a new I.T fleet management system. There will also be exposure to other ad-hoc fleet engineering/fleet management projects as required.

Requirements for the post include:

-Must have graduated in the last 18 months (or due to graduate this summer) with a 2:2 degree or above, preferably in a relevant subject (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or similar subject);

-Experience of and ability to produce professional reports and specifications;

-Strong ICT skills in standard Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and databases;

-Good communication, interpersonal and networking skills;

-Demonstrate enthusiasm, willingness to learn, self-motivated, an analytical approach, accuracy and an eye for detail in the work that is produced;

-Organisational skills to prioritise and work across multiple tasks, able to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines.
