Graduate Project Officer (Place Marketing)

Salary: £16,781 – £17,772 per annum

Location: City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester  LE1 1FZ

Full Time (37 hrs/wk), Fixed Term for 12 months – Graduate Opportunity

As part of the City Council’s drive to provide graduates with more opportunities to experience work and develop career paths we are pleased to offer an exciting and challenging Graduate Project Officer role within the Place Marketing Team. You will be part of a small team that will shape and lead the work of a newly formed Place Marketing Organisation established by the City and County Councils to promote Leicester and Leicestershire for tourism and inward investment.

You will:

· Support the delivery of place marketing projects and assist in the delivery of marketing activities across a full range of digital channels to increase awareness of Leicester & Leicestershire in the target marketplace;

· Use digital marketing channels such as social media platforms and website content management systems;

· Schedule, post and optimise content in a timely manner to raise awareness of Leicester and Leicestershire;

· Grow online social networks by increasing customer-base and interactions;

· Respond to posts or comments to bring value to user’s interactions and customer engagement;

· Possess editing and writing skills suitable for each digital platform.

Under the supervision of the Communications and Marketing Officer, you will gain experience working in Local Government in a consumer facing marketing environment covering a wide range of different areas of local authority activity. The role will have a direct link to the council’s Tourism Action Plan and Economic Action Plan, as well as support the place marketing strategy for tourism and inward investment.

Requirements of the post include:

· Must have graduated in the last 18 months (or due to graduate this summer) with a 2:2 degree or above, preferably in a relevant subject (e.g. Media, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Tourism, English Literature, Journalism or similar subject);

· Proficient in standard Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and social media platforms;

· Demonstrate an interest in working within a marketing environment, and/or within the field of tourism;

· Good communication and interpersonal skills with professional attitude towards work;

· Organisational skills to prioritise and work across multiple campaigns, able to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines.
