Graduate Project Officer (Transport Strategy)

Salary: £16,781 – £17,772 per annum

Location: City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester LE1 1FZ

3x Full Time (37 hrs/wk), Fixed Term for 12 months – Graduate Opportunities

As part of the City Council’s drive to provide graduates with more opportunities to experience work and develop career paths we are pleased to offer exciting and challenging Graduate Project Officer roles within the Transport Strategy & Projects Team.

The Transport Strategy section is responsible for transport in Leicester, designing and delivering improvements to highways and streets and a range of transport policies.

Working with senior staff, you will support key transport projects to achieve project aims, supporting the development of designs and transport systems that support the growth and economy of the city. Current projects within the City Centre Streets & Major Projects teams include ‘Connecting Leicester’, smart ticketing, major road improvements and cycle routes.

You will work with data and design packages to inform decision making, planning and delivery of schemes, together with opportunities to develop strategic thinking.

Requirements for the post include:

-Must have graduated in the last 18 months with a 2:2 degree or above;

-Demonstrate an interest in working within a project management environment;

-Experience of and ability to produce professional reports and presentations;

-Proficient in standard Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;

-Good numeracy skills with ability to undertake measurement and geometry and to learn to produce engineering drawings (for designing and building physical spaces (i.e roads and streets) and logical thought for signs and traffic orders);

-Good communication, interpersonal and networking skills;

-Enthusiasm and willingness to learn;

-Organisational skills to prioritise and work across multiple tasks, with ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
