Fixed term until 31 March 2020

Salary: Circa £75 – £80k

Midlands Connect is a pan-Midlands partnership of 23 Local Authorities, nine Local Enterprise Partnerships, the Chambers of Commerce, Highways England, HS2 Ltd, Network Rail and our Sponsor the Department for Transport.  It aims to deliver the enhanced connectivity required to power the Midlands Engine, maximising the Midlands’ position as a hub of the national transport network; driving economic growth, trade and productivity.

The Midlands Connect region spans the country from Herefordshire in the West to the East Coast in Lincolnshire, and from Derbyshire in the north of our region to Warwickshire in the south.  Our transport network serves several markets – commuters and freight, visitors and business; local, regional, and national traffic traverses our roads and rails.

The Midlands Connect Strategy was published in March 2017 and will help secure the further infrastructure funding needed to lay the groundwork for improved connectivity across the Midlands, bringing the East and West closer together and opening the region’s businesses to the world.

We now need to appoint a Head of Technical Programmes to provide technical leadership on all assigned projects as well as identifying new development opportunities. Key to this role will be providing technical input into the Programme coupled with advising and determining the most effective means to achieve the required output.

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Midlands Connect Director and help build a professional profile and reputation for Midlands Connect in the industry. The ability to consolidate relationships with key partners at local, regional and national levels will be essential.
