Salary: £23,166 – £25,694 per annum

Location: City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester LE1 1FZ

Full Time, Fixed Term until 31 December 2017 to cover the secondment of the substantive postholder.

An opportunity has arisen to support a busy Litigation team in dealing with predominantly civil proceedings on behalf of the Council. You will have relevant experience in dealing with civil litigation cases with the ability to manage a full caseload whilst also supporting a team of Solicitors. Excellent communication skills with good client relations and effective team working are essential for this post.

You will have conduct of your own caseload (subject to appropriate supervision) including contested debts, possession cases and claims arising from allegations of disrepair in Council houses.

Requirements of the post include:

-ILEX or equivalent (full degree level ability in core areas of practice) with substantial vocational training and applied experience as a legal clerk or equivalent in a legal environment being supervised by a qualified Lawyer;

-Recent in depth experience of dealing with civil litigation;

-Knowledge and experience of court processes;

-Advocacy skills;

-Ability to follow procedures and processes and work to a high degree of accuracy;

-Able to give clear, concise advice and enter into negotiations to achieve the best outcomes and meet objectives.
