Salary: £18,870 – £20,541 per annum

Full Time, Fixed Term

Through allocated tasks and a caseload appropriate to the post, you will support the provision of a comprehensive legal service to the Council in the required areas. You will provide administrative support within a busy legal office environment and provide support to members of the team on major projects.

Post 1 (Employment & Education) – Full time, Fixed Term until 31 May 2019 to cover maternity leave

To provide support to lawyers undertaking employment and education work. Experience of dealing with education, school appeals, or employment law practice and procedure is desirable for Post 1.

Post 2 (Litigation) – Full time, Fixed Term until 31 July 2019 due to current workload

To assist lawyers undertaking both litigation and prosecution work, who defend the Council in legal proceedings and take action against those who either breach their legal obligations with the Council or act criminally.

Post 3 (Commercial) – Full time, Fixed Term until 31 May 2019 to cover secondment of substantive post holder

To assist lawyers with drafting and issuing commercial contracts, funding agreements and procurement documents for services, goods and works. Experience of preparing legal documents is desirable for Post 3.

Post 4 (Property & Planning) – Full time, Fixed Term until 31 October 2018 due to funding

Duties will include providing legal support and assistance to the Council’s ‘Using Buildings Better’ project. Experience of dealing with legal title to property, commercial property and planning procedure is desirable for Post 4.

Requirements of the post include:

-Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines;

-Recent knowledge and experience in supporting a legal team, or demonstrable ability to do so;

-Experience in undertaking administrative tasks as may be required in a busy legal office environment to include Court bundling, minute taking, photocopying;

-Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills;

-I.T skills, including proficiency in the use of databases/case management systems, Excel, Word and Internet;

-Ability to respect confidentiality and sensitive information;

-Ability to work as part of a team and adopt a flexible approach.
