Principal Planning Officer

The Borough of Rushcliffe is located to the south of the city of Nottingham with easy access to neighbouring cities of Leicester and Derby. Much of the Borough is rural in character with the main settlement of West Bridgford sitting alongside the River Trent and smaller towns and villages dispersed throughout the area, several of which are the focus for growth.  The Borough is experiencing high levels of growth and significant interest in housing development with a requirement to deliver 13150 new homes by 2028.

We are an award winning and innovative council with a reputation for delivering high quality value for money services and exceeding our residents’ expectations. Rushcliffe is a great place for sport and home to a number of facilities such as Nottingham Forest football ground, Trent Bridge Cricket ground and Holme Pierrepont water sports centre.

The Planning and Growth team deals with a range of development proposals and there is continued interest from developers in schemes for major development within the Borough. We are seeking exceptional candidates to meet these challenges, with a focus on delivering economic growth and excellent customer service, and offer an opportunity for involvement in a wide variety of development proposals and to develop your experience and skills further.

We require a qualified Principal Planning Officer with membership of the RTPI to assist the Planning and Growth Manager in managing all aspects of the Development Management process and delivery of the council’s growth agenda, as well as a direct involvement in dealing with applications.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a significant level of experience and knowledge of development management as well as excellent leadership qualities. The Principal Planning Officer is also required to support the Planning and Growth Manager/Service Manager in the organisation and presentation of applications at Planning Committee meetings and may also be required to attend other evening meetings.
