Principal Social Worker

At Leicester City Council we place significant value on social work principles within our workforce to support our approach to adult social care. We are committed to work in partnership with our citizens to develop and maintain independence, with a developing focus on an asset based approach.

In the role of Principal Social Worker you will take the lead in promoting social work values and practice within a supportive, enthusiastic and committed team of professionals.

You will support the implementation of key social care agendas , provide a quality audit function, advise on complex and challenging practice issues,  and  take a lead with safeguarding activity  – all focussed on ensuring quality outcomes for those we support.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate leadership, is passionate about the delivery of high quality social work and strives for continuous professional development.

You will be an experienced and registered social worker who is confident to challenge practice where required and  who will enable practitioners to reflect and learn within a supportive environment.

You will be a creative problem solver,  self- motivated, a strategic thinker and  a confident communicator  with professionals at all levels and with those who are involved with Adult Social Care, as well as being someone who is able to make a positive contribution to ensure that those with care and support needs achieve positive outcomes.

How we look after older people, and vulnerable adults, is one of the biggest challenges society faces today. In Leicester, the Council’s policy is to support people so that they can be as independent as possible. But against a backdrop of increasing demand and limited resources, the challenge is considerable. In response, we have embarked on a program of service transformation, and now seek a suitably qualified individual to help us to take this process forward successfully.
