18.5 hours per week, Fixed Term until 1st March 2019 due to external funding
To ensure that the Safer Leicester Partnership delivers its statutory responsibilities around domestic homicide (as encompassed within Domestic Homicide Review Guidance) in the most effective and efficient way, working in a co-ordinated manner with the Local Safeguarding Adults Office and the Local Safeguarding Children’s Office.
The role of the postholder will be to :
– Lead local Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) process, from initial notification through to publication and ongoing learning;
– Review local DHR protocol and practice;
– Give guidance on other review processes that could be used where the definition of a DHR is not met but partners feel there is learning available from the case;
– Establish systems to enhance learning from DHRs and take an active role in disseminating learning in a co-ordinated manner;
– Ensure that DHR learning reflects and is reflected within the City co-ordinated community response to domestic violence;
– Engage and support family members, friends, victim and perpetrator as relevant for the chosen review process;
– Commission independent authors and Chairs for the review process as required;
– Gather emerging best practice and research from across the United Kingdom in relation to domestic homicides and safeguarding processes relevant to domestic violence and presents findings;
– Assist in the review and drafting of associated policies and procedures;
– Support the Safeguarding Adult Review process.
Requirements of the Post :
– Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, experience or ability in relevant subject matter;
– High level of interpersonal skills, including ability to gain co-operation of staff internally and externally and deal effectively, diplomatically, sensitively and confidentially with a wide range of stakeholders;
– Able to produce reports;
– Able to think strategically and analyse complex information;
– Able to communicate clearly orally and in writing;
– Skilled in taking minutes of complex partnership meetings;
– High level of word processing and excel skills for report creation, statistical analysis and project management;
– Skilled at dealing with sensitive subject matters and with individuals who have experienced significant trauma;
– Domestic violence and more than one of the following disciplines, health, Police, probation, Social Services and/ or understanding in the workings of Local Authorities;
– Commitment to equality policies and practice;
– Subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
