Blaby District Council’s Housing Options Team is a busy, high performing housing advice service with a sharp focus on preventing homelessness. The successful applicant will be based in our main offices in Narborough.

We are looking to recruit an experienced individual to assist the Housing Options Team Leader in providing guidance and support to our team of Housing Options Officers. The team are responsible for management of housing applications and preventing homelessness in the first instance and carrying out the Council’s responsibilities to customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness under its statutory duties.

An experienced team player with a passion for delivering an excellent housing and homelessness service, you will have the ability to manage a complex caseload with minimal supervision. You will have a sound understanding of housing and homelessness legislation and the new Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Homelessness services are experiencing fresh challenges and you will be expected to develop an innovative preventative approach that seeks to minimise, reduce and prevent homelessness across the Blaby District.

You will work proactively with neighbouring Districts in Leicester and Leicestershire to implement best practice in response to changing legislation and will contribute to the development of our new Homelessness Strategy.

You will provide high standards of specialist advice and support to colleagues and must have strong communication and negotiation skills. An organised and methodical approach is essential.

Must have:-

Good Communication Skills

Good Working Knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act

Awareness of the Councils Housing Allocations Policy
