Senior Planner (Enforcement)

Salary: £33,437 – £36,379 per annum

Location: City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester  LE1 1FZ

We are looking to recruit a positive, energetic and experienced Senior Planner to our Compliance & Monitoring Team, who deal with over 750 reports of planning breaches each year. You will be a key part of the team, dedicated to safeguarding the amenity of people who live and work in the City, and be expected to support and cover for the Team Leader.

You will have good knowledge and experience of Development Management and enforcement work, with the ability to negotiate resolutions, but where necessary take formal action. You will be able to successfully deal with a large and complex caseload, covering a full range of enforcement cases, communicating succinctly and effectively with stakeholders. The role will require collaborative working across services to ensure high quality outcomes. You will be expected to contribute towards pro-active compliance initiatives and other project based work.

Key requirements of the post include:

-Recognised degree or diploma in town planning with eligibility for RTPI membership;

-Substantial post qualification experience in town planning;

-An established track record, working and negotiating enthusiastically on complex planning applications, enforcement cases and appeals;

-Experience in development management enforcement complex cases;

-Experience of complex planning applications;

-Experience of appearing as a council witness in courts and appeals;

-Self-motivated with the ability to supervise and motivate others.
