We’re looking for passionate and committed Social Workers to join our Duty and Advice Service (DAS) – people who share our vision of improving the lives of children and families to whom we work for and with. We are currently delivering on plans for change in the service, but with supportive management, sensible caseloads, the potential to control your own workload and career progression, it’s an exciting opportunity to be part of this drive for improving lives of families and services and do great Social Work.
Our front door is effective and efficient, we have the right people asking the right questions and this enables us to gather and record the information we need to be able to analyse harm/critical worries, danger/worries and safety/wellbeing/success. We make timely decisions for children informed by evidence and an understanding of how behaviour impacts on the child, and we support future planning processes by thinking about family networks. The service operates a 24-hour shift system. As a Social Worker you will work Core hours, Early’s, Late’s and night shift’s as part of the team of 12 Social Workers. You will work 1 in 3 weekends with the offer of enhanced pay for unsociable hours. We offer agile and flexible working that supports a sound work life balance.
The service is embarking on using Sign of Safety as a model of intervention to support sound Social Work practice. That means you will be making decisions about children, but with the tools and framework at your disposal, to offer them a good quality of life. You will be offered regular reflective supervision. In terms of developing practice and learning you will participate in group supervision and mapping sessions on casework.

Requirements of the Post:
– You must have a Social Work qualification (One of the following: Diploma in Social Work (DIPSW) or Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW) or Certificate in Social Service (CSS) or equivalent professional qualification (must include appropriate Child Care Modules);
– Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC);
– Must have experience of front line Social Worker practice;
– You must have experience of working with vulnerable children with complex needs;
– You must have experience of working with looked after children;
– You must have an ability to manage a caseload and make sound Social worker decisions;
– You must have knowledge of relevant legislation and an ability to apply that knowledge in a practice setting;
– Subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
