Social Workers – Children’s Social Care – Single Assessment Team (SAT)

We’re looking for passionate and committed Social Workers to join our Single

Assessment team (SAT) – people who share our vision of improving the lives of

children and families to whom we work for and with. We are currently delivering on

plans for change in the service, but with supportive management, sensible caseloads,

the potential to control your own workload and career progression, it’s an exciting

opportunity to be part of this drive for improving lives of families and services and do

great Social Work.

The service was introduced in July 2016 and is already making an impact in the way

we deal with assessment and protecting children. Receiving referrals from our Duty

and Assessment colleagues we undertake assessments including Child in need and

child protection enquiries and those at immediate risk. We work with children and

families and offer short-term interventions for families in need to resolve their

circumstance with our support. If families require longer term intervention then the

child’s plan is progressed to the relevant teams.

We are currently embarking on using Sign of Safety as a model of intervention to

support sound Social Work practice. That means you will be making decisions about

children, but with the tools and framework at your disposal, to offer them a good quality

of life. You will be offer regular reflective supervision. We offer agile and flexible

working that supports a sound work life balance. In terms of developing practice and

learning you will participate in group supervision and mapping sessions on casework.

Requirements of the post:

– Social Work qualification (one of the following : Diploma in Social Work (DIPSW), or

Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW), or Certificate in Social Service

(CSS), or equivalent professional qualification (must include appropriate Child Care


– Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC);

– Experience of front line Social Worker practice;

– Experience of working with vulnerable children with complex needs;

– Experience of working with looked after children;

– An ability to manage a caseload and make sound Social worker decisions;

– Knowledge of relevant legislation and an ability to apply that knowledge in a practice


– Subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
