We’re are looking for committed Team Manager to join our Single Assessment (SAT) team – people who share our vision of improving the services we offer, and ensuring our standards are kept to the highest levels. We’re currently delivering on plans for change, but with supportive management, sensible caseloads and the potential to control your own workload and career progression, it’s an exciting opportunity to be part of this drive for improving services.
As part of the leadership team, you’ll be able to improve the delivery of the service across the city, impacting hundreds of lives as a result. This role will allow you to do so, leading a team of staff in providing top quality care and intervention across the city.
The service was introduced in July 2016 and is already making an impact in the way we deal with assessment and protecting children. Receiving referrals from our Duty and Assessment colleagues we undertake assessments including Child in need and child protection enquiries and those at immediate risk. We work with children and families with short-term intervention cases. If families require longer term intervention then the child’s plan is progressed to the relevant teams. It’s something we’re immensely proud of, and our determination to make a difference to the lives of those who need is reflected by every hard-working SAT team member.
We are currently embarking on using Sign of Safety as a model of intervention to support sound Social Worker practice. That means you will be making decisions about children, but with the tools and framework at your disposal, to offer them a good quality of life. You will also be responsible for overseeing the quality of care being offered by your staff, so you will supervise their work and maintain the appropriate legal, regulatory and statutory standards.
To succeed in this role, we need someone who has substantial experience and can make decisions quickly and efficiently, that means you’ll need to have plenty of experience in a similar environment, having supervised colleagues and successfully promoted a culture of change and be professional and is confident enough to be fully accountable for the actions of your team. You will therefore work closely with them and with various agency partners to build an innovative team environment in which your staff are inspired and motivated to always achieve more.

Requirements of the post:
– You must have a Social Work qualification (One of the following: Diploma in Social Work (DIPSW) or Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW) or Certificate in Social Service (CSS) or equivalent professional qualification (must include appropriate Child Care Modules);
– Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC);
– Must have experience of supervising staff;
– You must have significant experience of working with vulnerable children with complex needs;
– You must have experience of working with looked after children;
– Experience of management is desirable however we would accept applications from experienced Social Workers;
– You must be able to manage budgets effectively;
– You must have an ability to manage a team of qualified Social workers;
– You must have knowledge of relevant legislation and an ability to apply that knowledge in a practice setting;
