Salary: £23,866 – £29,909 per annum (career grade)
Location: Based at Ian Marlow Centre, Blackbird Road, Leicester  LE4 0AR

x2 Permanent, Full Time

Grade 6 – £23,866 – £26,470 per annum

Grade 7 – £27,358 – £29,909 per annum

Appointment to particular level will be dependent on outcome of candidate assessment and interview.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Housing Departments Technical Services section to ensure the effective and efficient maintenance, alteration and improvement of Council properties owned and managed by the Authority.

Post 1 – Repairs Team

Responsible for the construction of estimates for projects and building works to be considered by the department. Duties will include the production of work specifications, drawings and costings for, but not limited to:


-Rechargeable works;

-Fire damaged properties;

-Miscellaneous projects.

You will benchmark costs against the open market to ensure that the DSO services provide value for money and are cost effective, and develop programmes of planned work. You will also process financial claims for works carried out by the DSO undertaken outside the standard repairs service.

Post 2 – Quality Control

Quality Control provide an essential service to carry out inspections for a range of work streams which have legislative requirements and service level agreements. Duties of the post include but are not limited to:

-Disrepair surveys;

-Property inspections;

-Writing technical specifications;

-Preparing technical drawings;

-Contract administration and supervision;

-Damp inspections;

-Report writing.

Requirements of the posts include:

-Minimum BTEC National and practical experience in an area related to the requirements of the post, or substantial practical experience in an area related to the requirements of the post;

-Knowledge of building construction and buildings services;

-Knowledge of Building Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice, British Standards and Health & Safety Legislation;

-Experience of assessing and specifying new and corrective measures covering both Building and Services areas of work;

-Experience of building measurement and surveying, being able to provide cost estimates and producing final designs with technical specifications;

-Experience of supervising contractors and inspecting works to ensure predetermined standards are maintained covering both Building and Services areas of work;

-Must have a current driving licence and access to own transport and be willing to use this for work purposes.
