Democratic Services Officer

Salary: £27,221 – £30,364 per annum
Location: Boston, Lincolnshire

Boston Borough Council has an exciting opportunity to join the Democratic Services Team as a Democratic Services Officer.

The role…

You will help with the administration of Council together with council committee meetings, sub committees, working groups and panel meetings. Ensuring the meetings are in accordance with the requirements of the Council’s constitution, all relevant statutory legislation/regulations and guidance.

 

What you will be doing…

  • Administer various committees/boards/panels, many of which meet in public.
  • Provide advice and support to Officers and Elected Members in relation to governance, decision making and democratic processes
  • Organise and contribute to a range democratic and governance projects is a key part to the role.
    Support our elections function, developing new skills and experiences.

What you will need…

  • Experience of local government law and practice.
  • Organised, accurate, great communication skills, have good interpersonal skills, and you will be able to work under pressure to pre-determined deadlines.
  • Confident and tactful in dealing with elected members and senior officers and be able to think logically and plan ahead.
  • Proficient with general IT systems such as MS Office.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.

Many of our meetings take place outside of normal working hours so flexibility will be needed for this role, if you love variety in your work then this is the job for you.
