Salary: £23,907 – £26,150 per annum

We are looking for an Administration Assistant to join us here as a key member of the Housing Standards Team at Boston Borough Council.

 

What does the Housing Standards team do….

You will work alongside a supportive Team to help improve housing conditions in the private rented sector, licensing of HMO’s, Immigration Inspections, Homes For Ukraine requests and assist in bringing empty properties back into use.

You will be part of a small team of Officers based in the Boston office. This is a busy and varied role and full training will be given.

 

What do Housing Standards do and offer?…

Housing Standards Officers undertake inspections of domestic properties, including HMOs (houses in multiple occupation) and rented properties in the borough. This involves the licensing of HMO properties and action taken to alleviate deficiencies in residential accommodation.

 

What will I be doing?…

You will assist the officers by:

Answering queries and information gathering from tenants, agents and landlords by letter, email and telephone.
Updating the housing standards software systems to enter and retrieve information as required.
Working with officers to help prepare for cases taken to court or tribunals.
Assisting HMO licensing by printing and posting documents as required.
Liaising with agents and landlords to complete HMO applications, checking documents for accuracy before passing to officers for inspections.
Raising purchase orders for services such as stationery.
Working with owners of empty domestic properties to bring them back into use. This will involve investigative work such as tracing owners and advising them of options.
To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post and grade as may be specified by the Service Manager (Safer Communities), Team Leader and Senior Housing Standards Officer.
What do we need from you?

A good communicator with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Proficient in data entry with a keen eye for accuracy and consistent records.
Ability to prioritise and manage daily tasks under own initiative.
A willingness to learn with the possibility of further progression for the right candidate.
