Senior Planning Officer
Scale 5 / 6 £32,115 to £42,708 plus Comprehensive Benefits Package, including Essential Car User Allowance
37 hours per week, Permanent, however part time hours may be considered.

Blaby District is a great place to live, work and visit.  We have ambitious growth aspirations, which build upon our award-winning approach to place-shaping, while retaining a clear focus on delivering what is important to our residents.

We have experience of, and continue to deal with, a comprehensive range of development types; ranging from bespoke rural schemes to large scale commercial developments and a 4,250 home new community which is currently under construction.  You won’t find a typical planning team approach with us..…we are positive, customer focussed, and passionate about place-shaping.

No two days are the same as a Senior Planning Officer.  Your role will be varied and busy and you’ll be responsible for actively contributing to the efficient operation of the planning service and providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, including Councillors.

From the moment you join Blaby District Council, we will support your personal and professional development so that you grow with the organisation.

Following an internal promotion, we have an exciting vacancy available within our development management team.  We are looking for a talented, ambitious and qualified town planner.

For this role we believe your starting point is:

·       A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a development management role making decisions / recommendations and/or advising clients on a varied caseload of planning and other applications

·       RTPI accredited degree or diploma in Town and Country Planning.

·       Knowledge of planning and statutory legislation and an understanding and focus on enabling good development.

·       Full driving licence and use of own car to travel to sites within Leicestershire.

Further details can be found on the job description and person specification.

In return the successful candidate will have access to a wide range of Employee benefits

Ideally we are seeking to recruit to the role on a full time basis (37 hours per week).  However, we will consider candidates looking for part-time hours.  Whilst the base for this post is the Council’s Offices in Narborough, the Local Authority offers hybrid working subject to service needs.  For this role a minimum of two days a week will need to be office based.

If you are interested in this role and would like an informal discussion about the role and what it is like to work for us, please contact Kristy Ingles, Development Services Manager, on 0116 272 7565 or Stephen Dukes, Development Services Team Leader, on 0116 272 7520.

Should you have any technical issues when applying, please email human.resources@blaby.gov.uk.

Please note that applications will be reviewed on submission and interviews held as appropriate.  Therefore, please be aware that we reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than stated.  We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.

Closing date: Midnight Tuesday 7th January 2025
