Salary: £24,790.00 to £25,584.00 per year (£12.85 to £13.26 per hour)

BUILDING CONTROL SUPPORT OFFICER

About Us:

As a forward-thinking Council, we are currently undergoing innovative changes and restructuring our administrative processes within Building Control to enhance efficiency and improve services. We are seeking a proactive Building Control Support Officer to provide essential administrative support during our business transformation and beyond.

About the Role:

As a Building Control Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Building Control team. Your primary responsibilities will include:

– Responding to enquiries related to building control.
– Registering applications and raising invoices.
– Booking site inspections and generating reports.
– Providing administrative support to Building Control Surveyors.
– Measuring and assessing plans submitted as part of applications.
– Liaising with agents and architects.
– Reviewing and uploading documents.
– Responding to customer queries via telephone and email.

The role involves dealing directly with the public, providing administrative support, and using IT systems, particularly the Microsoft Office suite of products.

About You:

The ideal candidate will possess:

– Proficiency in data entry onto a Corporate Database System.
– Ability to multi-task between different complex processes.
– Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
– The ability to use a range of ICT systems.
– Good literacy and numeracy skills.
– The ability to work effectively in a busy team environment or individually to perform set tasks.
– Organisational skills, the ability to work accurately and to manage workload to meet deadlines.
– The willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Desirable skills would include:

– Providing technical administrative support in the building control environment and Local government experience.
– Experience in processing orders and raising invoices with an understanding of financial regulations.
– NVQ level 2 or equivalent in administration or ICT.
– Enthusiasm and a willingness to tackle a wide variety of tasks.
