We are looking for a full-time, permanent Environmental Health Officer to join our Food Health and Safety team.
Key Responsibilities:
This is an interesting and varied role, and the main responsibilities include:
· Undertaking proactive and reactive inspections for food hygiene and health & safety in a wide variety of premises.
· Working with local businesses to maintain and improve standards.
· Undertaking infectious disease and food poisoning investigations.
· Inspecting and registering skin piercing activities.
· Undertaking animal licencing visits (subject to qualification).
· Investigating complaints, requests for service and RIDDOR reported Incidents.
· Achieving compliance using enforcement action when necessary.
About You:
As an enthusiastic professional qualified to Diploma or Degree level in Environmental Health and registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board (or equivalent), you will perform a varied role in the team and be capable of meeting the relevant competency requirements set out in the Food Law Code of Practice and Practice Guidance. You will understand the effective application of related legislation along with knowledge and experience of enforcement work.
You will be positive, self-motivated, an effective communicator and have a commitment to excellent customer service. You will be able to deal effectively with difficult situations and adopt a risk-based approach to achieve positive outcomes. A commitment to team working is essential as is having the ability to analyse complex information and make informed decisions when faced with conflicting demands. You will be required to meet deadlines and work within established procedures.
