APPOINTMENT OF INDEPENDENT MEMBERS FOR REMUNERATION PANEL
Blaby District Council is seeking to appoint an independent person to its Independent Remuneration Panel.
About the role:
The Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP) consists of three members, and is responsible for making recommendations to the Council on the type and level of allowances payable to Councillors. It typically meets twice per year to review the allowance scheme.
As a member of the IRP you will be asked to:
Analyse and compare appropriate remuneration data from other councils and public bodies
Hear evidence and consider representations from Councillors and senior officers
Assess the roles and responsibilities of Members generally and of those with Special Responsibilities
Analyse issues and evidence, to establish what needs to be done next and/or commission work as appropriate
Make recommendations based on the above, with the intention of achieving an appropriate scheme of allowances for the Council
About you:
The ideal candidate should have:
A keen interest in local government
Strong analytical capability, including the ability to question, probe and seek clarification about complex issues.
An ability to consider matters objectively
A strong connection with Blaby District, either through residency, employment or business.
This position carries a small remuneration of £200 per year and reasonable expenses for attending meetings will also be paid.
