Project Officer – (Employer Engagement – Supported Employment Team)

Derbyshire County Council Public Health has a fantastic Supported Employment team and we are building on employer engagement to support people with disabilities and long-term health conditions into employment. We are creating pathways, giving training, and raising awareness with employers in order to support those with the biggest gaps in employment rates. This work sits within the Wider Determinants of Health team and supports the development and implementation of work linking to the Council’s Public Health strategy.

Working to the Health Improvement Practitioner, and with the support of a Service Delivery Assistant – the post holder will engage with employers to create real pathways and influence wider change. They will work with businesses, CICs and charities as well as community and public health partners and stakeholders.

The right candidate needs to be able to demonstrate initiative and that they are passionate about reducing health inequalities – especially for those with disabilities, tackling the wider determinants of health, and promoting wellbeing in Derbyshire. Work will include: –

  • Supporting the Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) to develop employer engagement networks and create pathways to employment.
  • Delivering workshops, sessions and activities for employers on removing barriers to employment.
  • Working with the Supported Employment team to determine local employment needs and opportunities
  • Monitoring project plans and ensuring that actions are delivered.
  • Co-ordinating data and maintaining GDPR as directed by HIP
  • Promoting the work of the Public Health department, including providing case studies, drafting reports and developing publicity materials.
  • Working alongside colleagues, partners and stakeholders including local employers, CICs and charities to influence and address the wider social determinants of health leading to good work.
