School Visits Service Manager

The School Visits Service (SVS) is part of the Sports, Outdoor and Residential Education Service (SORE), SVS supports over 400 schools and children’s services with expert health and safety advice, training, and guidance.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, and performance-driven Health and Safety School Visits Manager to join our dynamic team.

This is a 0.5 FTE (18.5 hours per week) role. You will work closely with a full-time Team Manager (Visits Advisor) and the Assistant Head of SORE.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide specialist health and safety advice on outdoor and adventurous activities for both young people and staff.
  • Offer guidance on all aspects of educational visits, including higher-risk activities such as overseas and residential trips.
  • Deliver high-quality training to Educational Visits Coordinators (EVCs), visit leaders, and children’s services staff.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the service, ensuring it continues to meet evolving needs.
  • Take an active role in marketing the service and generating income.
  • Manage budgetary responsibilities and work collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has substantial experience in outdoor education and school visits advisory work.
  • Is confident working in a fast-paced environment, with a strong track record in delivering expert health and safety support.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead training sessions and engage a range of stakeholders effectively.

This is a traded service role, so a commercial mindset and the ability to promote and sustain service growth are essential.
