Homelessness Reduction Officer

Salary: £31,586 – £35,235 per annum
Location: Spalding, Lincolnshire / Remote Working

Are you self-motivated and proactive in preventing homelessness and identifying housing solutions?

 

We are seeking a dedicated officer with experience of working with complex and challenging clients to join the Homelessness Reduction Team. You will be prepared to go the extra mile, brokering services with partner agencies, proactively finding housing solutions and preventing homelessness immediately. Ensuring clients have clear expectations and every opportunity to engage in the assistance available to them under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

 

Typical duties are:

  • Provide support and assistance where a person considers themselves to be homeless or threatened with homelessness.
  • Liaise with internal and external colleagues as necessary to provide suitable accommodation, utilising all resources available to the Council.  Increase the take-up of housing options and minimise the use and cost of temporary accommodation.
  • To provide information and assistance to people approaching the Council for advice in relation to housing. Including tenant rights and responsibilities, accessing private and public sector housing and homelessness duties.
  • Carry out a full needs and financial assessment, including eligibility and Right to Rent checks.

What we need from you:

  • Previous experience of working with clients who are at risk of being homeless and street homeless.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with providers and partner agencies to deliver support to vulnerable people.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills enabling you to deal with complex clients, often in emotional and stressful situations.
  • Must be fluent in English.
