The Waste and Recycling Unit is looking for an enthusiastic individual with a thorough understanding of local authority waste and recycling services.
The Waste and Recycling Officer will help ensure that key performance indicators are met for the Council’s waste collection service by working on both the domestic and trade waste services.
According to the service demands the Waste and Recycling Officer will be required to spend a significant amount of time focusing on supervising and developing the Council’s trade waste service during the busy times of year.
The Waste and Recycling Officer role suits a person who can demonstrate competence at supervising contractors and investigating complaints to a satisfactory outcome. They must be able to work on their own initiative to develop the trade waste service in a fast paced and dynamic environment and must also be a team player, being able to multi-task and help to solve queries on the domestic waste service.
The work of the Waste Team fluctuates with demand but is always busy and so a flexible approach to work is required along with an ability to deal with dissatisfied customers and difficult live situations.
To apply for this role you will need to have the skills to manage your time and prioritise incoming work demands, whilst providing a great service to customers. Good IT skills are an essential part of this role.
In addition to the above candidates will:
Possess a working knowledge of Data Management Security including GDPR.
Be an effective communicator, both written and orally.
Possess a current full driving licence.
This post reports directly to the Waste and Recycling Manager and helps support them in developing a sustainable waste service.
