About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic finance professional to lead our Finance Business Partnering function. As Head of Finance Business Partnering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the Council’s financial strategy and supporting transformational change across departments.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will lead a team of senior finance business partners, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial advice, analysis and insight to support strategic decision-making and the Medium-Term Financial Strategy. You will also act as the senior Finance Business Partner for the Corporate Services and Transformation Division.
This is a key leadership role requiring strong strategic thinking, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to influence and challenge at the highest levels.

The successful candidate will be excited by the opportunity to change and improve finance delivery within the Council to and shape their own team to ensure we meet this goal.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the Finance Business Partnering service, ensuring alignment with Council priorities and value for money.
• Provide strategic financial advice to elected Members, Chief Officers, and senior management.
• Drive performance and continuous improvement across the finance partnering teams.
• Ensure robust financial planning, reporting and risk management across departments.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support service transformation and financial sustainability.
• Champion the integration of financial insight with operational outcomes to inform decision-making.
• Support the development of financial systems and reporting tools to enhance transparency and accountability.
About You
We are seeking a qualified CCAB (or equivalent) accountant with substantial post-qualification experience in a large, complex organisation. You will have a strong track record of leading teams, delivering complex projects, and influencing strategic outcomes in a political environment.
