We are looking for an experienced Senior Team Leader to manage our Building Cleaning Service, leading staff and overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure consistently high cleaning standards across council buildings and facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys leading teams, maintaining quality standards and delivering an effective frontline service.
What You Will Be Doing
In this role, you will lead, motivate and support a team of building cleaning operatives while managing rotas, staffing levels, equipment, materials, transport and personal protective equipment. You will monitor cleaning standards, identify opportunities for service improvement and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, including COSHH requirements. You will also respond professionally to customer enquiries and service requests and, when required, undertake operational cleaning duties to support the team.
About You
You will be an organised, approachable and confident leader with experience of working within cleaning services or a similar operational environment. You will have strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, enabling you to manage people, priorities and resources effectively while maintaining excellent service standards.
Role Requirements
Applicants should have experience working in cleaning services or a similar operational environment, together with experience of supervising or managing staff. You should have good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements, and hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience. A full UK driving licence is essential, along with the flexibility to travel between sites as required.
A management or leadership qualification would be advantageous, although we would also welcome applications from candidates who are willing to work towards one. Experience of managing attendance, appraisals and performance matters, together with experience of overseeing services across multiple sites, would also be beneficial.
