The Role

The Service requires an enthusiastic, dynamic, motivated and organised ecology professional to provide advice and guidance to the public, developers and Council officers on biodiversity and wildlife matters. The post is part of our Natural and Built Environment Team, dealing with design, conservation and ecology, and the successful applicant will be expected to be flexible across the Team.

The role will involve implementing the statutory requirements of the Council in all matters of ecology in the Borough. It will also include contributing professional advice on biodiversity to help achieve housing and employment growth at major development sites identified in our new local plan, including sustainable urban extensions.

The Person

You must possess a relevant degree in ecology, and have or be working towards full membership of IEEM or CIEEM, with some ecology related experience, and if possible knowledge of relevant planning legislation. The role will be equally suited to an ecologist who’s starting their career or an experienced practitioner.

You must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people and work to tight deadlines with the minimum of supervision, with effective negotiation and influencing skills.
