The Customer Services Team is the first point of contact for residents, visitors and customers accessing Chesterfield Borough Council services. We provide information, help and advice across a wide range of council services, ensuring people receive the support they need and helping to deliver an excellent customer experience.

Successful candidates will be trained to develop a good knowledge of all service areas including Council Tax, Rents, Benefits, Housing and Environmental Services. You will work as part of a team to deliver an efficient and effective customer experience, supporting and assisting in the delivery of services to respond to the customer’s needs and expectations. You will ensure that as many enquiries as possible are resolved at first point of contact, encouraging customers to access services digitally where available.

An enthusiastic individual, who is committed to providing excellent customer service.  You’ll have a great telephone manner and be comfortable dealing with people face-to-face. You will be able to build rapport and adapt your approach to ensure the best outcome for the customer is reached.

Collaborating with other teams and your colleagues, you will strive to make the service work as efficiently as possible, providing the best possible journey and outcome for the customer.

This is a fast-paced team in a challenging environment. We work with a variety computer systems and applications. We are therefore looking for flexible individuals able to cross skill across several services. Previous customer service experience is desirable although full training will be provided to help you develop these essential skills.

You will need to have the following:

  • GCSE grade 4 (GCSE C or above) or equivalent in Maths and English
  • excellent keyboard and computer literacy skills
  • great customer service skills in all things you do. you will put in 100% effort because you are a team player and whatever the day brings you will be able to take pride in your achievements as you progress towards your qualification

 

If you have completed another apprenticeship or qualification, it must be at a lower level or in a completely different subject area to the apprenticeship you are applying for. If you are successful in your application, you must not be in receipt of or attending any other funded training or signed to another apprenticeship.

Finally, we need you to bring personality and a positive can-do attitude and we will help you make this role your own.
