Arboricultural Officer

Salary: £31,264 – £32,872
Location: Lincoln

Applications are invited for the above position based at City Hall, Lincoln. We are looking for an experienced, qualified Arboricultural Officer to work as part of a small tree team with responsibility for the management and care of trees across the city of Lincoln.

The successful candidate will provide a professional, efficient and courteous arboricultural advice service, dealing with routine complaints and enquiries from members of the public, tree related planning applications, planning development applications, and organising works on trees under the council’s ownership and for Lincolnshire County Council (under a Service Level Agreement).

You will be expected to work constructively with colleagues, Members, other council departments and partner organisations, and to order, supervise and monitor works.

You will have responsibility for tree surveys, inspections and risk assessments, for preparing comprehensive reports for senior management and council committees to support decision making

The successful candidate will require (or be prepared to work towards gaining) the following Arboricultural qualifications & experience:

– Arboriculture Diploma Level 4 or equivalent;

– Certificated Lantra Professional Tree Inspection; and

– Experience in Tree Risk Assessment using a recognised methodology such as QTRA (Quantified Tree Risk Assessment).

A good standard of English and numeracy skills are essential, the successful candidate also being able to demonstrate experience of carrying out tree surveys / inspections / risk assessments and of preparing detailed reports. A full driving licence is also required for this role.

Key responsibilities:

– Work under the general direction of the Open Spaces Officer to provide a professional, efficient and courteous arboricultural service.

– To provide advice for the authority in relation to tree related planning applications and planning development applications.

– To provide advice and organise works for the County Council Highways section (under the terms of a Service Level Agreement).

– To provide advice and order works in relation to all of the Council’s own tree stocks (all trees in all areas).

– To provide advice to members of the public.
