Assistant Headteacher

Location: Derbyshire
Closing date: 11 May 2025

Cotmanhay Junior School is an awesome place to work and learn.

The governors wish to appoint a kind, intuitive and hard-working Assistant Headteacher for September 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to drive up educational standards, whilst ensuring that all our pupils are safe, happy learners. The main responsibility of this role will be driven by the School Improvement Plan and the abilities of the successful candidate. In the first instance this is a temporary position, and would suit candidates with a wide range of experience across the primary age spectrum. In particular governors are looking for candidates who will help to ensure our most vulnerable pupils make excellent progress.

Situated a short distance from the Peak District National Park and with easy access to both Nottingham and Derby city centres, Cotmanhay Junior School is a good school. It has a strong, established team of staff and is well resourced. Pupil behaviours are good and the school staff dedicate themselves to providing safe, happy learning for everyone through a creative and exciting curriculum.

As a school we are strongly committed to safeguarding all children. This role involves contact with children and you will be engaging in a regulated activity relevant to children. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken as part of our safer recruitment process. This includes DBS checks and the robust use of references. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity related to children. A copy of the school’s Child Protection Policy can be found on the school website. CVs will not be accepted without an official application form.

We want our pupils to inspire their community and help to make it an incredible place to live and learn, so if you have the skills and desire to be part of our wonderful team we would love to hear from you.

Visits to the school would be warmly welcomed.
