The Role
Coordinating and monitoring the Council’s capital accounts and programme
Maintaining the capital asset register and calculating asset rentals
Advising on capital finance and accounting matters
Liaising with internal teams, external auditors, and valuers
Preparing and monitoring revenue budgets and final accounts
Leading on Section 106 records and IFRS16 lease accounting
Supporting capital bids and government returns
Deputising for the Group Accountant – Capital when needed
The Person
Essential:
Part-qualified CCAB or full AAT, or equivalent experience
At least 2 years’ experience in capital accounting and budgeting within a local authority
Strong grasp of capital accounting regulations and financial systems
Proficient in Excel and Word
Excellent communicator and collaborator
Desirable:
Experience with capital appraisal techniques and alternative funding sources
Awareness of current developments in local government capital accounting
