Part-time Community Care Worker – Children with Disabilities Service 

About the role

Derbyshire County Council have an exciting opportunity for a caring and determined Community Care Worker to join the Children with Disabilities Service in the Chesterfield team. This role offers progression and development, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to use your skills and experience to genuinely improve outcomes for children and young people.

The position is within a busy social work team with an experienced and committed group of colleagues, supported by a highly competent Practice Supervisor and experienced Team Manager.

The post is part-time, 29 hours 40 minutes per week, and is permanent.

The role is based at The Hub, South Normanton and travel will be required across the Chesterfield and High Peak areas.

We are looking for motivated and dedicated applicants who can demonstrate a passion for working with vulnerable individuals within society and making a difference to children and families. 

What will you be doing?

The role involves a range of tasks linked to social work practice in the locality including.

  • Parenting assessments
  • Supporting family time
  • Direct work with children
  • Supporting plans for children and families.
  • Engaging with other agencies and partner organisations

What skills and experience do you need?

  • NVQ Level 3 in Care or equivalent, or willing to work towards once in post (refer to job and person profile for more information).
  • Experience of creating rapport and building effective relationships with families.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection, child development and parenting abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent assessment and IT skills.

Our Community Care Worker Role attracts a starting salary of £29,719 with annual increments to £33,004 pro rata.
