Crematorium Technician

Salary: S3 (£26,020 – £26,077)
Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire

A rare opportunity to join a small team that is dedicated to the sensitive handling of bereavement.

The successful candidate will be able to address issues of death confidently but empathically, whilst also having the capability to understand the technical aspects of managing funeral services and the cremation process.

They will be required to work flexibly and cover duties at weekends, bank and public holidays at times to maintain the service.

Training to obtain the required technical certificates will be provided.

Key responsibilities:

– To be involved in all aspects of Cremation Services held at the City Crematorium.

– To be responsible for the cremation of bodies and the recovery of cremated remains.

– Ensuring the safe storage and inventory of the cremated remains until further instruction is received.

– The burial of cremated remains in the Garden of Remembrance.

– Assisting the public in the Garden of Remembrance.

– If required to cover duties at weekends, bank and public holidays.

– To undertake cleaning of the building, maintenance of cremator plant and general duties at the City Crematorium.

– Willing to work flexible hours and additional hours to maintain the service.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

– Experience of dealing sensitively with the public.

– Physically able to handle and manoeuvre coffins and carry out the cremation process.

– Ability to determine priorities and work to deadlines.

– Ability to work and communicate clearly with colleagues and customers.

– Knowledge of basic computer skills i.e. experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or similar packages.

– Ability to maintain accurate work records.
