Housing Officer

Salary: £32,597 to £33,699
Location: Nuneaton

We’re looking for 2 x permanent  and 1 x temporary 12 month fixed term contract, proactive and committed Housing Officers to join our Landlord Services team. This is an exciting and varied role where you will support tenants, manage tenancies effectively, and help us provide safe, sustainable homes.

As a Housing Officer, you’ll play a key role in managing a patch of properties and working closely with tenants to ensure they understand and meet the terms of their tenancy.

You’ll work to prevent arrears, support sustaining tenancies, handle breaches of tenancy agreements, and take early action when issues arise.

Your work will be busy and varied, ranging from tenancy sign-ups and inspections to court attendance, estate management, partnership working, and supporting vulnerable residents. This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same.

The Housing Officer will be expected to:

  • Provide a high-quality tenancy management service across your housing patch
  • Conduct tenancy sign-ups, routine visits, inspections, mutual exchange checks, and viewings
  • Monitor rent accounts, identify arrears early, and support tenants to meet their obligations
  • Take appropriate enforcement actions, including serving notices and attending court where required
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns promptly
  • Work with internal teams and external agencies to support tenants, tackle fraud, and let void properties quickly
  • Carry out estate inspections and address local issues, including abandoned vehicles and caretaking needs
  • Maintain accurate tenant profiling and use data to shape service delivery
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with tenants and community partners

 

We’re looking for someone who is confident, resilient, and passionate about customer service. You’ll be comfortable working in a busy environment, able to manage competing priorities, and confident making decisions.

You will also bring:

  • Recent experience in housing management or a similar customer-facing role
  • Experience working with vulnerable or challenging customers
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • A working knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy rights, and tenancy enforcement
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes

 

A housing qualification is desirable but not essential
