East Midlands Councils is a member owned and led organisation consisting of the 40 local authorities in the Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland areas.
EMC works on behalf of and is the voice of local government in the region. Our small cohort of staff work across the range of services and programmes that EMC delivers on behalf of its member councils. Our role is to provide support to all member councils to improve their services and a strong collective voice for the East Midlands on matters of strategic importance.
We provide regional leadership on asylum and refugee resettlement, workforce issues, supporting the leading role of councils on Midlands Connect and the Midlands Engine and work with DfT on the East Midlands Rail Franchise process, all of which provides huge benefits to local authorities.
We also work with MPs and the East Midlands Chambers of Commerce to support the East Midlands All Party Parliamentary Group.
Our core objective is to ensure value added, whether this be through ensuring excellence in the provision of our services and sector-led support or the development of policies and delivering programmes that respond to the needs and priorities of our membership.
