As a Council, our duty is to provide a diverse range of services, to protect and shape the environment in which we live, and to create the right conditions for a strong local economy. We must also make sure that all of these aims are delivered in a way that provides the best possible value for our taxpayers.
What we do
We deliver a wide range of services from bases around the county to the people of the Nottinghamshire, everything from applying for a school place for a child to registering a birth.
Serving a population of nearly 800,000 of whom nearly 200,000 are children – the Council is involved in providing care for children, adults and for those with special needs; the provision of education; transport and roads; waste and recycling; planning and the environment; the registering of births, deaths, marriage and civil partnership; emergency planning and trading standards – this list could go on and on.
Our Values
As a Council, what we do is important, but equally important is how we do it. Our values and behaviours are created through our people, inspired by a common purpose of providing excellent public service to citizens of Nottinghamshire. Our values are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we do the right things in the right way.
Our people share the values listed above and have personal attributes and behaviours that could drive continuous improvement and support and embed our values throughout the organisation.
As an employer, we offer a wide range of flexible and family friendly employment initiatives and working arrangements to the majority of our employees. These are aimed at creating a positive working environment in which employees are able to work to their full potential and achieve a healthy work/life balance.
