Private Sector Housing Officer (2 posts)

Salary: £38,844 – £40,817 plus a Market supplement of £2,000 until June 2028 (pay award of 3.3% pending). Designated car user allowance
Location: Beeston, NG9

To help achieve the Council’s priority for housing – A good quality home for everyone we are looking to strengthen our team and are seeking two motivated and enthusiastic Private Sector Housing Officers to assist in the delivery of a wide range of services including Licencing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO), private sector housing enforcement, and caravan site licencing.

You must have experience of working in a local authority private sector housing setting or experience in local authority enforcement.

You must hold a degree or diploma in Environmental Health, or an HNC in Housing Practice (or equivalent).

Competency in the use of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System and enforcement of private sector housing legislation is highly desirable.

We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:

  • Working in a housing or construction related discipline
  • Enforcement of private sector housing legislation or local authority enforcement.
  • Undertaking detailed housing inspections and preparing schedules of work
  • Licensing and inspection of Houses in Multiple Occupation
  • Checking construction work for defects
  • Use of computerised software systems, including word, excel, outlook.

 

The ideal candidate would be someone who:

  • Has good planning, organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to maintain clear and concise records
  • The ability to make considered decisions
  • Be enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Has good customer care skills

 

What you need to know:
The post holder must be able to undertake site inspections, predominately housing inspections to identify property defects.
