Financial Wellbeing Advisors

5 Full Time posts (part time hours considered)

Based in Ilkeston / Heanor with some hybrid working and travel across Derbyshire.

We are looking for passionate and motivated individuals to join a newly established Financial Wellbeing Advisor Team within Derbyshire County Council’s Public Health Department.

These exciting new roles will support the delivery of the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF), helping residents facing financial hardship access practical advice, financial support, and specialist services.

Many people experience financial difficulties linked to poverty, ill health, caring responsibilities, low confidence or digital exclusion. Navigating available support can be overwhelming. As a Financial Wellbeing Advisor, you will provide tailored support to help residents improve their financial wellbeing and build longer-term resilience, and support events and activities across the county.

About the role

You will work with residents referred through the Derbyshire Discretionary Fund and other CRF services, providing ongoing support to understand their circumstances and identify the most effective help available.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing personalised financial wellbeing advice and support.
• Supporting residents to maximise income and reduce household costs.
• Making warm referrals to specialist services, including welfare rights, debt, and energy advice.
• Supporting residents to engage with services and achieve positive outcomes.
• Administering and making decisions on Crisis and Resilience Fund Grant applications.
• Maintaining accurate records and monitoring outcomes.

About you

You will:

• Have experience supporting people facing financial hardship, disadvantage or complex circumstances.
• Be an excellent communicator with strong listening and problem-solving skills.
• Be able to build trust and positive relationships with a wide range of residents.
• Have good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload.
• Be committed to reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for Derbyshire residents.

Experience in welfare rights, local welfare assistance, debt advice, money guidance, housing, health, social care or community support would be advantageous.
