Inclusion Support Lead Officer

The Inclusion Support Advisory Service is recruiting a Lead Officer from 1st September 2025 to be based in one of the following locations; Alfreton, Chesterfield and South Derbyshire areas. The Lead Officer – Inclusion Support Advisory Service role within the Children’s Services department is a pivotal position aimed at enhancing the quality of early intervention and the graduated approach to inclusion within mainstream schools.

The successful candidate will provide leadership for the education cluster locality areas, ensuring that all pupils thrive. This role involves supporting the development and implementation of the Graduated Response in mainstream schools to increase inclusive capacity and reduce exclusions, part-time timetables, and low attendance. The Lead Officer will also ensure that the support offered to schools, children, young people, and their parents/carers is of the highest quality and responsive to local needs.

Key responsibilities include line management of a team of Inclusion Advisory Teachers, strategic planning, and collaboration with other Lead Officers, Service Leads, Heads of Services and senior managers. The role requires effective partnership working with education providers, health and care professionals, and families to support children and young people with SEND. The Lead Officer will also be accountable for the delivery of high-quality support and advice around targeted and specialist inclusion, ensuring meaningful monitoring and evaluation of the service’s effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in managing and developing colleagues, leadership roles within an education setting, and a strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
