A permanent part-time Independent Reviewing Officer post (2.5 days pw) is becoming vacant in South Derbyshire from 01.10.2026, providing a rare opportunity to join an established team of IROs. This is a key role in quality assuring the care plans and interventions for children looked after in Local Authority care and ensuring their voice is heard.
The current team work flexibly, with most of their work being undertaken from home or where the children live, with technology supporting virtual as well as face to face working.
Team members have monthly supervision and regular access to training through the regional development days, team meetings and other local opportunities with partner agencies.
The IRO service benefits from the involvement of a well- resourced Virtual school, specialist health support, locality children in care teams and a well regarded Leaving Care service.
Applicants must be registered with Social Work England as a Social Worker and are required to have had 5 years experience as a qualified social worker and with leadership experience preferred. Additionally, you will need to be a car driver and have access to a car. A DBS check is also required.
