The City of Lincoln Council’s Rough Sleeping Project team are looking for an experienced Support Officer to work with those accommodated through our Rough Sleeping Accommodation Programme (RSAP).
Working with persons either at risk of rough sleeping, or having previously slept rough, you will be working to support those in long term supported accommodation as part of the journey to independent tenancies and accommodation. With a typical caseload of 10 service users, you will work closely with your service user to determine, coordinate, deliver and link in with other agencies to support to prevent the risk of return to rough sleeping.
Key responsibilities:
– Provide a pro-active and dedicated service to those with a history of rough sleeping, in both temporary accommodation and / or once housed, giving timely advice and assistance to encourage and promote license and / or tenancy sustainability.
– To provide a comprehensive welfare benefit take-up service so that tenants are able to meet their housing costs and to ensure that “signposting” to other welfare benefits takes place where appropriate.
– To promote improved partnership working to ensure that vulnerable tenants are provided with support, thus enabling them to successfully manage their tenancy whilst remaining independent.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
– Ability to think and act creatively and innovatively.
– Experience of working with people with complex and chaotic needs.
– Ability to make decisions using own initiative.
– Ability to transport oneself around the city in the early hours and occasionally outside the city boundary.
– Working knowledge of rough sleeping, working in the voluntary sector and / or in a homeless context with vulnerable people.
