We are seeking a committed and experienced Safeguarding & Domestic Abuse professional to join our team on a fixed term basis for 2 years. This role is central to ensuring that children, young people and adults are safeguarded effectively. You will play a key role in coordinating safeguarding responses, supporting statutory partners and driving improvement in domestic abuse practice, ensuring we meet our statutory duties as a local authority.

Key responsibilities:
– Working alongside the council’s Safeguarding Lead, act as a subject‑matter lead on domestic abuse within the organisation.
– Provide professional advice and challenge to services in relation to safeguarding concerns.
– Contribute to multi‑agency domestic abuse arrangements and partnerships.
– Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and local procedures.
– Contribute to audits, reviews and inspections.
– Support workforce development through training, guidance and awareness‑raising.
You will bring:
– A strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance, particularly the Domestic Abuse Act.
– Experience of working alongside safeguarding and domestic abuse services.
– Confidence working in complex, multi‑agency environments and providing professional challenge where necessary.
– The ability to analyse risk, apply professional judgement and influence practice.
– Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with professionals and partners.
