Planning Enforcement Technician

Salary: Salary up to £31,022 per annum
Location: Nuneaton, Warwickshire

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Planning Enforcement Technician within a dynamic and enthusiastic team. Together we are responsible for managing the use and development of land and buildings across a largely urban area surrounded by countryside and Green Belt. A central part of this is ensuring that planning rules are enforced and this is where you come in.

You will assist with the delivery of the Council’s Planning Enforcement Service with particular emphasis on investigations into breaches of planning control, monitoring of development sites and providing technical and administration support to the planning enforcement team. You will investigate minor and less complex complaints and alleged breaches of planning control, to include site inspections and visits. You will give advice to alleged offenders and complainants on Planning and Enforcement procedure, including progress on complaints in line with policies and protocols. The role involves checking that Planning conditions are being complied with and with the support of the Principal Planning Enforcement Officer to negotiate with developers where this is required.

You will be supported by the Principal Planning Enforcement Officer and the Planning Manager- Development Control  together with regular 1-to-1 meetings, full support in a friendly team and an appraisal of formal training needs.

We are looking for someone who is positive and enthusiastic and willing to continue learning and adapt with the role.

Applicants should have experience in dealing with the public in a service environment, have experience of using computer packages, ability to read plans, ability to work to deadlines and able to organise their own work and manage time effectively. You must have qualifications to NVQ Level 2 on the National Skills Framework including English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
