School Business Officer

Chinley School would like to appoint a new School Business Officer (SBO) from September 2025. 

The successful candidate should have a secure knowledge of MIS systems; ordering resources and the processing of invoices. In addition,n they should be experienced in processing contracts for staff, making adjustments; recording additional hours and processing sickness absences. 

They are responsible for ensuring that any maintenance requirements are reported and followed up; annual services are completed and record keeping is up to date. 

Importantly the SBO is responsible for monitoring the school budget; preparing forecasts and accounts for governors and the headteacher; producing budget monitoring reports and provide advice and guidance to leaders on the impact of financial decisions. In addition, they should be responsible for ensuring that the school meets the Schools Financial Values Standards (SFVS).

The successful candidate will work as part of a close team in the office alongside our school admin officer and be a friendly, welcoming face to parents and pupils. 

The post is for 42 weeks per year (8.15am – 4.00pm) Mon- Fri; governors would consider applications for flexible working/condensed hours on request and if they met with the school’s requirements.
