Revenues & Benefits Clerical Assistant (Sleaford)

Salary: S2 (£25,051 – £25,276)
Location: Sleaford, Lincolnshire

The City of Lincoln Council and North Kesteven District Council have a shared Revenues & Benefits service; you will be working within the Council Tax Team and closely with our Revenues Support Team who support Council Tax administration, Housing Benefits and the Revenues Team within the district. The role is based in the Council Offices in Sleaford, but occasionally you may need to work from City Hall in Lincoln.

We have a hybrid working pattern and you will be required to work from the office / home on a 40 / 60 split – working days to be agreed at interview.

The position includes working closely with the clerical counterpart bases in City of Lincoln for Benefits and working through various tasks to support Council Tax, Business Rates and the Benefits teams.

You must have experience of working in a busy office environment, highly organised and have high attention to detail especially in distinguishing errors.

You must be able to work in a calm manner and in line with City of Lincoln Council and North Kesteven District Council’s main aims and priorities. Full training will be given for the position.

Key responsibilities:

– Provide clerical support to all aspects of the Revenues & Benefits service.

– Assist with all aspects in the administration of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Discretionary Housing Payments as required.

– Promote a “one stop” approach to service delivery, and to demonstrate an understanding of the duties and responsibilities of other sections within the partner local authorities and other external stakeholders.

 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

– Ability to work to deadlines.

– Ability to communicate both orally and written.

– Experience of using Microsoft packages and ability to understand what is being presented.

– GCSE English and Maths grade A – C or equivalent qualification or experience.
