Derbyshire County Council is looking to recruit two experienced and committed Qualified Social Workers to join our Adult Mental Health Team in the High Peak.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment, supporting adults with mental health needs to achieve recovery, independence, and improved wellbeing. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, strengths-based social work practice in line with statutory duties and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive assessments, care planning, and reviews in accordance with the Care Act 2014
- Work in partnership with health colleagues, including NHS mental health services, to deliver coordinated care
- Manage a complex caseload, including individuals with enduring mental health conditions
- Undertake and contribute to Mental Health Act (MHA) and Mental Capacity Act (MCA) work, including Best Interests decisions
- Lead on safeguarding enquiries and risk assessments where required
- Promote recovery-focused approaches, enabling individuals to maintain independence and community connections
- Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality recording
About You
We are seeking a motivated and resilient practitioner who:
- Is a qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
- Has experience in adult mental health social work or a related setting
- Possesses a strong understanding of key legislation, including:
- Care Act 2014
- Mental Health Act
- Mental Capacity Act
- Safeguarding Adults frameworks
- Demonstrates excellent analytical, assessment, and risk management skills
- Is confident working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Has strong communication and relationship-building abilities
An Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification or willingness to train is desirable.
